Hi guys.

It's been a very long time since last upgrading or building a PC and would like one to surpass my ancient hardware.

Current system.

Athlon X2 250 @3.00 GHz
4 GB ram
Win 8.1
GTX 650

Now my budget is around £600. Preferably no more.

I don't need:

  • Monitor
  • Hard drives
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard
  • Speakers or sound card (I am presuming MoBo will have on board sound anyway)
  • DVD drive (Upgrading to a BluRay drive may be an option though)

I will be playing games such as Cities: Skylines, Elite: Dangerous, GTAV and possibly more graphic hungry games.

I am at work today so I will check thread on breaks.

Hi.

What case+PSU do you have? are your drives all SATA?

If your current case+PSU ae not re-usable then you can get something pretty good for a bit over £600,

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z97X-SLI - Devils Canyon Core i5 4690K Bundle **£12 Saving** £272.98
1 x MSI Radeon R9 280 Gaming 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £149.99
1 x Crucial BX100 250GB SSD SATA 6Gbps 7mm Solid State Drive (CT250BX100SSD1) £72.98
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £54.95
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLRED38G2400HC11CDC01) £44.99
1 x Antec VSP5000 Silenced Tower Case - Black £39.95
Total : £635.83 (includes shipping : ).

So the case is a cheapy jobbie and the PSU could be an own brand cheapy jobbie to but worth looking at it and double checking what PSU it is.

Yeah the PSU is an Own brand one. I am guessing the case and PSU you posted will be the best option. Unless I can see a nice case that takes my fancy..

Sorry to reply late.. I Have been reading the GTA V thread on the forums and there are loads of combinations of setups, CPU, RAM amount and Graphics cards. Would that basket run GTA V well. I have looked around for specs and comparisons but it's doing my head in.

Worth investing in a more powerful PSU and maybe Nvidia GFX? (I have a bit of a like for Nvidia) Oh and RAM? I use PS a lot and was thinking that will help. Maybe upping it to 16GB

Ok cheers for your help. Very much appreciated. If I buy this I will buy a bottle of Cava and smash it against the case and name it Stulid.:D Then return it it due to water damage.
