I'm looking to build a new system and will be starting pretty much completely from scratch, although I will be taking the i7 920 from my current rig.

Here are the parts I was looking at initially at least, I've not picked a graphics card as I'm not wholly up to date with them at the moment and would rather be advised regarding this if possible!

Any improvements/things which would make the system cheaper would be welcome. I'll be using it mainly for gaming, and the SSD is likely to be for OS & potentially a game or two. I've got no set budget, however I'd rather not go compltely overboard.

Thanks in advance!

Ideally you want triple channel RAM for X58.

The SATA 3 ports on x58 motherboards are add in controllers, usually by Marvell.

They're not the best in the world so you might not see the full speed of the SSD.

You'll see no performace benefit from the WD black over the Samsung F3.

A SATA3 connector on a HDD is just marketing. There's no performance benefit over SATA2.

Yeah get the Samsung F3 HDD and use the money saved to go towards a modular PSU instead.

Thanks for the replies. I've made a few changes as suggested.

I'm still unsure about a graphics card, I've been looking at the GTX 570 however am unsure about this.
