Evening all. Put off doing this in summer, but now that UT3/ET:QW and the like are hitting I need to get myself a system capable of playing them. Budget is £1,000 but I need everything for that amount (bar speakers). I would quite like to get a Q6600 and an 8800 in there and a fair monitor, but not sure what else to stick in (e.g. 2gb RAM or 4?) and what combination of other parts to get.

Thanks!

I've just ubuilt an entire system, q6600, 8800gtx, 2gb, 22inch screen, ad all the rest for about £950. so it should be possible.

well that worked well :p

Haha, I appreciate the effort! The posted spec looks fair, but I've heard the best bang/back is to be had with a slightly lesser 8800, which would also stick closer to the £1k budget. Further input welcome!
