So I built my first PC two years ago and still love it, it demolishes everything I throw at it. Now my friend wants a custom built PC. I said I would have a look at some parts for him and he said his budget is around £500. I have come up with a system costing £530 but I would like if anyone has any alterations they would make.

Case-Bit Fenix Comrade £30 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-154-BX
PSU-EVGA 500W £33

This includes a 1TB HDD (Not SSHD) and 270X which is more powerful. - Your picked motherboard & RAM is out of stock.
I'm guessing you're getting windows separately as you quote £30.

ThaReaperGuy why that case over the bit fenix and also the PSU? Dont you think a SSHD would be better, he is not going to need a terabyte in my opinion. Finally the MOBO and RAM I picked may be out of stock except do you think that DIY bundle is better option in your opinion?

I guess I'd rather the extra space then 'the extra speed' which I doubt is very much when it's filled up and has lots to work through, but if it works better for your friend then switch them out.

Case comes with a front installed fan and I find looks better.
PSU is a similar price, decent OEM and very quiet, I believe the EVGA's can get a little loud when stressed, again just preference.

Hi, the DIY kit has a slightly faster cpu and the ram is a bit faster, 1600MHz vs the 1333Mhz that you linked to. Your motherboard is better, has a better upgrade path, especially for overclocking but then again you are looking to buy a locked cpu so it won't make that much of a difference right now.

Not sure which way i'd jump on this one :)

The gigabyte board will take much faster ram and will allow you to get say an Intel i5-4690K, an unlocked overclockable cpu. If you wanted to do that in the future you would need to get an after market cooler. Also it supports crossfire, so you could have 2 gpu's but for that you would need a to also upgrade the PSU.

If you are not that bothered about future upgrades etc, then the only thing i would change, or have a think about changing in your original spec, would be a better gpu and some faster ram.

For instance, an R9 280 and 8GB of 2133MHz to maybe 2666MHZ ram.
