New system specs

Hi all,

Just need a bit of advice on choosing a new system spec. To start with I will list what I'm currently running...

- AMD XP 2500+
- 1Gb Corsair RAM
- ATI x800XT PE
- SB Audigy 2
- 2 x WD HDD

My budget for upgrade/new system is around £1000 and will be using it for mainly gaming (Battlefield series/FEAR). From what I hear I should be going for the Intel route this time (possibly Intel Core 2 DUO E6600?). Not sure about Graphics Card/RAM/Mobo etc though.

So, pretty much looking for a whole new system I think, minus monitor/peripherals.

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

Thanks for the speedy replies!

The budget of £1000 was a rough estimate, I could go a bit over if it was worth it to do so. I doubt I will be doing any overclocking.

Was also thinking of getting 'Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming case' any opinions on this?

Think I will most likely go for...

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN) £191.99
MY-058-GL GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (MY-058-GL)
£164.99
MB-061-GI Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-061-GI)
£89.99
HIS ATI Radeon X1900 XT ICEQ 3 SILENT Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-061-HT) £159.99

Just not too sure about the rest really.

:) OK.

So now I have a rough idea what I'm after, what would you think about the time to purchase. I have been advised by friends to wait for a little while yet as there is DX10/Quad-Core CPU's coming at the start of next year.

I was going to purchase a new system asap but if it is best to hold out a few months I can handle that. Not that I will be getting DX10 card etc straight away, but I dont want to have to upgrade again for quite a while!

So basically would you buy now or wait and see what the future brings?
