New System Temps.......

Hey all,

I have just bought and setup my new system over the last couple of days (see sig below) and have done some temperature monitoring.

Chassis used is a Thermaltake Armor case with the following cooling:
2 x 120mm front intake fans,
1 x 90mm top exhaust fan,
1 x 120mm and 1 x 90mm rear exhaust fans,
1 x 80mm Antec spot cooler (RAM area).

I have used Prime95 to stress the CPU and Firmark 1.14.1.4 to stress the GPU and both ran together for over 1 hour.

Ambient room temperature = 24oc
Ambient case temperature (External front) = 25oc
Ambient case temperature (External rear) = 28oc

CPU temps while running Prine95 for 1 Hour = 61oc (stock cooler) - [Coretemp 1.0 RC6]
GPU temps while running Firmark for 1 Hour = 77oc @ 44% fan speed (Tri-X Cooler) - [TechPowerup GPU-Z 0.7.9]

NOTE: CPU showed 100% @ only 3.7GHz +/- (189 x 20) and not its 4.0GHz stock speed or 4.3GHz turbo speed.......

10 minute cool down = CPU @ 33oc and GPU @ 37oc

Are these temp OK?

Update:

I decided to install my OCZ Vendetta 2 and ran the same above tests.

Results are now: CPU @ 48 - 51oc and GPU @ 74oc at load.

Update:

Ordered a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo after reading some good reviews and it should be with me by mid next week.

Cheers,

I'd be interested to know how that CoolerMaster performs, sometimes I wonder if I've gone a bit overkill on my cooling.

Thank you APM and doyll for your replies.

I plan to OC this system and have now made a start.

In the BIOS I have set the following:

Cool n Quiet = Disabled
C1E = Disabled
C6 = Disabled
Core Performance = Disabled
APM = Disabled
HPC = On
Core Control = Auto
Off Set = 0.0

Set the Bus Speed = 200 with a Multiplier of 21.5 giving its rated turbo speed of 4.3GHz.

I have tested the stability of my starting point using Intel Burn Test v2.54 set to standard for the stress test and ran it 3 time consecutively.

Results are:

Coretemp 1.0 RC6 =

CPU Idle @ 24 oC
CPU Load @ 43 oC

HWinfo64 v4.46 = (ITE IT8728F Sensor)

CPU Idle @ 24 oC
CPU Load @ 42 oC
NB Idle @ 34 oC
NB Load @ 47 oC
Mobo Idle @ 31 oC
Mobo Load @ 31 oC

NB VID = 1.175v
Core VID = 1.3375v

UPDATE:

Running Prime95 (large in place Torture Test) and Furmark 1.15.1.4 (1280 x 720 8 x MDAA) for an hour together to stress again and produce as much heat as possible with the following results:

HWinfo64 v4.46 = (ITE IT8728F Sensor)

CPU @ load = 54oC
Mobo @ load = 44oC
NB @ load = 58oC

Tech Power Up GPU-Z 0.8.0 =

GPU @ load = 76oC @ 44% fan speed.

Once I receive the 212 EVO and install it I would really like to get a good OC from this system with a little help (loads of help)

Thanks

Thanks APM

I am hoping to reach around 4.5 - 4.8GHz Overclock on stock voltage and around the same temperature when I get my CM hyper 212 evo installed. . Will be looking for help by the users of this forum.

Hey all,

Got my Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo installed now and it is not as big as I thought, smaller than my OCZ Vendetta 2.

Results are: (keeping to the tests above)

CPU @ Idle = 28oC +/-
CPU @ Load = 55oC +/-

I bought and used Arctic MX-4 as read some good reviews (Above I used Arctic Silver 4)

UPDATE:

Changed the orientation of my CM Hyper 212 Evo too Front - Back with the following results:

CPU @ load = 46oC
CPU @ idle = 31oC

(using Prime95 & Firmark to produce as much heat as I can in the case)

GPU @ load = 71oC with fan @ 39%
GPU @ idle = 34oC with fan @ 20%

Much better results, very happy now.

Ordered another 120mm fan for a push/pull setup also, should be here very soon and looking forward to seeing if this reduces the temps more.

UPDATE:

I now have the 2nd fan installed (Cooler Master Blade Master 120) on my Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo pulling air from the heat sink and pushing it towards the Thermaltake 120mm exhaust fan for expulsion out the case.

I have relocated the 80mm Antec spot cooler from the RAM area down to the bottom of the case blowing air around the graphics card triple fans. (idle @ 34oC @ 20% fan speed and load @ 70oC @ 40% fan speed)

Using IntelBurnTest 2.54 set to very high to test system. I now have temperatures I am happy with:

CPU @ load = 43oC
CPU @ idle = 30oC
