Hi,
it's been a long long time since I built my current PC and it's now just too old to keep alive any longer.
I've done some research and have come up with with a shopping list but since it's been a while there are a couple of parts I'm not too familiar with.
This is what I've got so far: -

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775) £16.44

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK) £72.84

Intel Core 2 DUO LGA775 E6300 1.86GHz Retail / Gigabyte 965P DS3 / 1GB GeIL PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Kit - Bundle £286.66

Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB 3200KS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £61.09

Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £119.84

Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming case £68.14

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g) £7.04

Sub Total : £537.91
Shipping : £12.95
Vat : £96.40
Total : £647.26

I've got a monitor, DVD writer, keyboard, mouse, Windows XP etc from my current machine so I think that's all I need new. The plan is to do some overclocking to get the most performance for my money and I believe the parts above should allow a fair bit without going to extremes?
Originally I specced 2Gb of the GeIL ram and a 8800GTS but I can't quite justify the cost at the moment so I think the X1950 will do as a stopgap until I can afford to upgrade along with a nice widescreen monitor later in the year unless there is anything better at that price point?.
Now the main questions I had are regarding the case and psu, neither of which I know much about so I just picked the case I liked the look of and the psu pretty much at random from the list. Are there any issues with either of them or better alternatives for a similar price?
Is there anything else that I'll need to get it all up and running, cables and the like?

Thanks very much for any help,

Ross

Welcome to the forums, you don't need the thermal paste since the CPU cooler (either retail or Arctic Freezer 7) come with thermal paste. The PSU is very good, I don't know so much about the case but I believe it is pretty decent, the Lian-Li PC7+ is also worth looking at though. :)

Cables will come with the motherboard and you seem to have all the rest of the necessary parts already.
