Time to change my ageing p4 3.0ghz and IC7 based system.

I'm interested in the 64bit AMD processors, but i'm totally out of touch having not changed anything except my graphics card in ages.

I'd like to keep the graphics, the hard drive and possibly the memory for now with a view to chaging the ram later.

So is there a decent AGP based board that will take a new 64 bit Athlon processor? If not new secopndhand would do.

Can someone spec me a mid range machine please?

Ta!

any boards with nforce 3 ULTRA chipsets will take an agp graphics card and a socket 939 dual core athlon, otherwise you could get the asrock dual vsta board which has both an agp and a pci-e slot on, and also takes anything in the socket 939 range (ie dual core s939)

were there any particularly good boards to look for with that chipset?

Will a this kind of upgrade be a noticable differance?

Ta!

As little as possible really while still seeing a bigish differance in all round performance.

The card is an ATi all in wonder XE, i can't remember exactly which one but it was quite dear 12 months ago, it wasn't the bottom range one anyway.

I'd be looking to do a staggered upgrade if possible.
