New System. Using Windows 8 on HDD until SSD is available?

Hi,

New system coming shortly however I have pre-ordered one of the lovely new Samsung SSD's which means I'll be using one of my HDDs until I have the SSD.

Is Windows 8 likely to throw a wobbly moving the OS install over onto the SSD?
(I will make sure to set it as AHCI).

If this doesn't pose any real problem I'm guessing I'll have to manually enable the backround OS SSD functions such as TRIM?

There shouldn't be any issues. It should enable TRIM and disable auto-defrag as soon as it detects the SSD. It wouldn't hurt to perform a manual check after everything is up and running.
