hi guys! this is my first post on your forum! ive just recently bought my gaming pc from overclockers and i couldnt be more happy with it! not being the best with computers!

Today i accidently deleted my username profile folder from ssd and i thought i could get it back by system restore which gave me the option of going back a few days! having done this my pc started up but with no username profile! i created another username folder thinking that, that would work but no! the folder contained all my settings and drive information and although i can see all this information windows says 'username has been deleted'!

Guys ive been racking my head now for 5 hours trying to fix this and i fear ive made things worse! I cant get access to my quick launch folder in my taskbar right click on the start button doesnt work! i dont know what else to do! please someone help!

a system refresh would probably be the quickest way to get everything back up and running correctly, however this wouldnt recover any deleted files.

The OP is a friend of mine, although he lives in a different country so I cant help him directly. Seems the only difference to his system is navigation. He has lost the quicklaunch folder from his toolbar and the start button wont allow left click. All his applications, games etc function as before. Is there not a manual way to reset the quicklaunch etc?

I fear a reinstall of 8.1 would be far more problematic for him due to his experience.

in win8 a refresh doesnt delete user data.
