Hey

Just finished putting togeather my new system, i go to turn it on and it wont boot.

When i press the pwr button the cpu fan and other fans ect will spin for about a second no more then nothing. I have tried to removing things like ram, dissconected all other components but nothing.

But when i remove the 4 pin pwr connect from the motherboard (name escapes me) it will boot for about 3-4 seconds before shutting down. After reading the mobo manual it told me that the system wont boot with out this so from what i can see its this 4 pin connector stopping it from booting.

Anyone have any idea why this would be ?

My spec is:

Core 2 Duo E6600
Asus P5N-E SLI 650I Motherboard
Corsair XMS6400 2GB
Hiper HPU-4B580 Type R 580W
GeForce 8800GTS 320MB

Hope that all makes sense at all.

Any help would be great! Or any other ideas to what it could be

Try 1 stick of ram in each slot individually, then power up. A long shot but worked for me to get me booting up on an Asus board.

1. take everything out of the case
2. boot with just the mobo, 1 stick of ram, and all mobo connectors and of course psu - if it boots it means it was cold booting before..if it doesnt boot then its poss your mobo is D.O.A...

p.s. triple check all mobo connectors are fine...

p.p.s if the mobo is dead it would still power the fans however as far as I am aware the fans would not stop spinning....so last but not least, have you tried a different psu? perhaps its faulty...for the fans to spin and stop suggests a lack of juice or a faulty psu...

theres a few things to try...good luck..
