I would start by taking out one stick of RAM (Leaving you with 4GB), then turning it on. If that doesn't do anything. Swap the sticks around. Try different combinations. Ultimately though, make sure they are sitting well on the motherboard.

Ive just talked him out on of upgrading his hard drive to SSD and now enjoy the LAN
