I recently just upgraded my pc to the one in my signature. Now I thought everything was fine but now im getting abit paranoid.

Last night the pc started beeping and I looked in the case to see the cpu fan had stopped for some reason, I think this has only occured the once and I didnt seem to have any problems before I plugged in some more fans. Im thinking my Enermax 485W psu cannot give all the power needed?

I also noticed that when turning the pc on the cpu fan doesnt come on always, sometimes not even till im in windows, is this a problem or a feature?

Is it possible the gfx card and cpu can get damaged from low power? My cpu runs at around 34C idle and 55C load (coretemp beta) and the gfx card runs at 61C idle (atitool).
Also when running 3dmark06 this morning I was greeted with a dx9 error sayin DEVICELOST but yesterday it ran perfectly fine.

EDIT: psu is 2yrs old

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CPU fan not spinning at startup is a 'feature'. Mentioned in the manual somewhere. To stop it happening, adjust the fan control method in the bios. The beeping could just be the bios fan fail detection telling you that the fan is not spinning. Always best to check things though.

Temps all seem fine based on what you've posted.

ok thanks for the reply I couldnt find anything in the manuel but ill check the bios.
Just being playin bioshock on everything maxed and all seemed fine, cpu @ 55C and gpu @ 76C, man that games pretty.

My main worry was, can damage be incurred due to lack of power.

thanks for help

Your PSU is from a good manufacturer so it should be fine but regardless the system should not be damaged by a lack of power, more harmful would be too much power in general. :)

my local store has thermaltake 700W toughpower psu's in stock, would one of these be ok?. I know 700 might be abit overkill but im thinking about possible upgrades :)

any help appreciated
