Hi guys,

I want to upgrade my system and was wondering is there anytrhing here worth keeping ....

Asus 925X P5AD2 Premium Motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 ‘3.4GHz’ Prescott with HT Technology
Corsair 1GB DDR2 XMS2-5400 Pro TwinX (2x512MB)
2 x 80gb hard drives (running in raid)
6660gt 128 Pci-express gfx card
Asus black 16x dvdrom
Pioneer black 107 dvd writer
Akasa Eclipse 62 black Aluminium Case
SilenX 520w iXtrema Pro PSU

Will the psu above be up to running a 8800gts, duo core 2 6600 system and will this be a great increase on what i have now? not sure just to upgrade the gfx card otherwise and the hd's.

Welcome to the forums, is there anything your system doesn't do that you want it to? If it does everything then there probably isn't much point in upgrading.

You could probably upgrade the motherboard, CPU and graphics card and get a good jump in performance as well as a cooler running CPU. What is your budget here? That will determine your available options more than anything else. :)

I had this in mind and also want to get the samsung 22" lcd when it arrives back in stock

Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Western Digital Caviar RE 160GB 1600YS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM x2
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 V2 TURBO SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Anything there worth changing for another brand and i use the system for games and video converting.

The parts are all solid enough, I don't know too much about your PSU but provided it is a decent one that should be fine. I'd suggest going that little bit extra and getting an 8800GTS if you can and preferably also getting another gb of Ram, either another two matched sticks or swapping your existing Ram out for 2gb as a matched pair.

Okay thats great advise, thankyou. :) hopefully have my new system by next weekend. just need to sell the older bits now
