New System

Hi, Im after buying a new system and from looking at the current ones available from OCuk just wondering out of these two.. am i better off getting?

Ultima OC 8800GTX" Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz @ QX6950+ 3.30GHz+ Quad Core SILENT DDR2 System
Ultima OC 8800GT" Intel Core 2 DUO E8400 3.00GHz @ E8800+ 3.66GHz Dual Core SILENT DDR2 System

Mostly gaming with a few other application usage now & then. Also which case would be recommended, for keeping things cool and ventilated. I looked at the Vantec 900 but I seriously don't like the PSU at the bottom on a windowed case. I can imagine wires galore..

Anyway any input from you guys would be just smashin.

Q6600 is good for video encoding, etc., but it will be a while before all four cores will be used when gaming. The E8400 is better at the moment IMO for what you're doing. How often will you upgrade?

Well it's all gota do with what gets exempt, by that i mean take a look at my current system, basically i've had it for just over 4 years and can't really do much with it now as AGP is out (i know the new ati agp is out) but still im limited with my cpu/mobo. I hate building PC's so i opt to buy full systems.

So hopefully with specs of the 2 systems posted Id be able to upgrade when newer things come out providing 775 and pci-e is still around as the latest cut if ya get my drift.
But yeah mainly gaming.

I would go for the first one but that's just my opinion

If i had the choice again, i'd choose the E8400 over the Q6600. People assuming programs will use all four cores to their full potential in the near future are..assuming. The E8400 is cheaper, runs cooler and overclocks a lot more.
