Hi folks,

i bought this system from OCUK

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-252-OK&groupid=43&catid=1444&subcat=

Anyway other than 2 problems im happy with it, main problem i had was that it was only recognising 2GB of memory, both memory modules were in the blue slots on the mobo, so 1st thing i did was resit them but it didnt help. Then i changed them to the 1st and 2nd slot (black and blue), and it recognised 4GB. Is this the correct setup for this overclocked machine?

thanks

Very odd, You'll need to set the matched memory in the correct banks to take advantage of dual channel memory. The first matched pair go in slot 1 and 3 whareas the second pair uses slots 2 and 4 respectively. Usually slot 1 and slot 3 will be the same colour whereas slots 2 and 4 will be the other colour. I'm a little confused by this. Try installing the RAM in banks 1 & 3 and test. Then do the same in 2 and 4. If one shows as 2GB and the Other 4Gb, you could have a faulty memory slot or bank. Also, try testing all slots one at a time using just one stick. If the system fails to boot in one slot ( because the memory isn't registered) then you have found your faulty slot/bank.

Just as a footnote.. I would contact the shop as soon as you can..

Try running memtest and see if it generates any errors. If in doubt, contact our support forum or help line :) or just drop me an email in my trust.

I'll have a play with it tonight, but only reason i bought a full system is that it was supposed to work out of the box!!! arrgh! lol
