New system

Hey guys!

I'm fast approaching that glorious time when I get to order a new computer!

I already have a keyboard and mouse and monitors etc, so I am just looking at a new base unit.

Budget is around £1000

I want an intel processor and I already have an AMD 7970 Gfx card.

A quick question also, is there much difference between and I5 and and I7 processor?

Anyway, if anyone can spec me something along those lines I would appreciate it!

This should really be in the General Hardware section. I'm sure a mod will move it there for you though

Intel's new CPU's and socket are a month away, so it is worth waiting until they are released

You might also want to post your current system specs, including make and model of your Psu. I assume you already have an OS. As some components(hdd,ssd,dvd/rw,etc) could be reused, thus spending money in other areas.

For gaming an Intel Core i5 3570K is fine when Overclocked, if you are running intense applications or require a bit more power for future proofing then i7 is the way to go.

A i5 3570K overclocked to 4.4GHz however will monster most things
