So my current PC is starting to show its age a little. I've only had it a few years, and it still plays new games pretty well, but all the same I'm kinda thinking I might want to trade up this year.

Had my eye on this little beauty. Was thinking I'd up the hard drive to the 3TB one, but keep all the other options as the default ones.

What do you all think? A good solid gaming rig? Or do you think I need to scale up any of the other components?

A quick google tells me titan z is a workstation card, if you just after a gaming rig 980 or 290x would be the way to go.
What monitor are you using since one 980 will manage everything maxed out on 1080p but you will need 2 of them for 4k realistically.

I'd go with Z97 and 970 SLI if main use is gaming (what monitor will you be using?). Went for black/green like the rig you linked and pimped it up too but in an alternative case.

250GB SSD for OS/Programs + 250GB SSD for Games. 850 EVOs, better and longer warranty than the 840s. They'd sit in the two open-view bays above the PSU shroud. A single 500GB model would be a bit cheaper. Just wouldn't look quite as nice, aesthetically.

3 matching Alpenfohns to replace rear case fan and H110 fans.

An alternative to the Nvidia reference cooler cards are the following, which will have a green led logo on the side too, but won't exhaust heat as effectively as the reference cards. There's a very wide gap on the Gigabyte motherboard between the first and second PCI-E slots though, so may not be a problem:

These require a 6-pin and 8-pin each, instead of two 6-pins.

OcUK can build you whatever spec you wish, so no need to restrict yourself to what you can change in the pre-builts' options.

You probably already knew everything I said, but better safe than sorry. :)

Well, the pre-built was around £2150 if I remember correctly (no longer available for some reason). So despite sticking to black/green theme and with 2 x 250GB SSD's instead of 1 x 120GB, the spec still came in well under budget. Though OP could save even more money, for sure, and still get the same performance.
