New tab homepage Firefox 5?

Hi there,

I'm trying to get newtab homepage working in FF5. No joy so far. I seen a comment somewhere about changing this and that, but it never worked for some reason.

Even if I could rollback to FF4 I'd be happy. I can't find a download link for it anywhere however.

This comment on the FF addon page worked fine for me:

(it works with firefox 5, you just have to download the .xpi file (right click install anyways, save as) open with winrar, 7-zip, winzip etc, open the install.rdf file with notepad, change <em:maxVersion>4.0.*</em:maxVersion> to <em:maxVersion>5.0.*</em:maxVersion>, save as install.rdf, and move it back into the .xpi file, and manually install into firefox from the add-on manager)

What problems are you having? Accessing the file / editing / installing?

Download the firefox compatibility addon. it allows you to install incompatible addons for testing purposes. it works great as i never have any problems with addons.

Someone created a hacked version, originally for FF v4, that puts the focus on Google search field (if your homepage is Google, that is) when you open a new tab.

I don't think the author of new-tab-homepage is palnning on updating it himself anytime soon so this hack is very useful.
