Depends on what you plan to do on the tablet? If it's just out of those two then for general use, the Xperia Z, but for work related things that uses Office, the Surface.

The problem with surface RT is it has a lame SoC.

Nexus 10 or Xperia Z will suit your needs perfectly, ipad 4 too.

I have an iPad however would love an RT as I use it for a lot of typing. It depends on what you want from it really. I'd go to a shop and try them all out because you never really know what you're going to want it for.

I decided to come away from the store empty handed. I had a ipad 3 but sold it along with my other apple stuff when I moved to Android.

Id personally hold off on the Surface RT, if rumours are to be believed there is a Snapdragon 800 version coming to market very soon.
