Looking at talking to people who have actually implemented some new technology in the areas i'll list below.
This is all in relation to a manufacturing/industrial environment as this has quite big implications on some of the technologies...
A couple obviously relate to reducing cost within an IT department.
RFID (Radio frequency ID)
Wireless (Secure encryption only, must be government approved)
Handheld / portable devices
Telephone/PC connecivity (VoIP)
WAN/LAN
Use of open sware (sharing of source code amongst companies)
Touchscreen technology
Digital Signatures
Voice activated technology
Thermal Imaging/photography/digital imaging
I'll really appreciate it if anyone who's got experience with the above areas can throw some input in and if you want to talk outside of this thread, let me know and we'll sort something as it's more than likely easier.
