Looks like the new TF rolled off the line on the 26th, PDF if you want to view the new 'old' car, looks to be unchanged!

I actually hope it works out for them, would be interesting if they did a mad turbo or supercharged version.

They've been following it over at the MG-Rover.org forums

The front bumper's different, the dials are different and the engine is a revised K-Series, known as the N-Series which is Euro IV compliant and supposedly less prone to HGF

I hope that they do succeed but the car is an old car now - the pricing will be crucial

My Dad went to an evening at the local dealer to view this tonight. Will call him soon and see what he thought.

I can't see how this can be a success unless the buyer leans towards rovers. There are far more advanced small cabriolets out there that aren't based on 90's technology. Give me a Mazda MX5 over this any day of the week.

when the tf first came out (not the f) i would have taken it over a mx-5. now iam not so sure...

if you can find a tf with the proper spring suspension they are superb drives and the k-series hgf issues or not is a lovely little engine when on song.

but times have moved on and i certainly would have second thoughts about buying one new.

That's what I think

I do like the TF and my parents had one and it's a great little car. The problem is that the MX-5 has been completely revamped and it's now the better car

Pricing would be critical

Its always been the better car, its just even further apart now.

Yep - it was one of the changes from the F to TF

most not all, this caused a fair old issue a year ago for us, at one point we suspected the TF we had in had a incorrect VIN but it turns out there are a few* with the old suspension.

*no idea how many really of the 8 or so tf's i have worked on only had the one with the old hydrogas.

presuming of course it wasn't the owners fault trying to convert a f into a tf on the plate change, but she didn't seem the type. hot though.

You sure it wasn't an MGF with the TF front? It's quite a popular conversion as it's almost cheaper to buy all the parts to convert to a TF front than it is to buy MGF headlights.

It's fair enough getting a product onto the market ASAP. I don't think many people will mind. Just as long as they don't intend to stop here... they need to do some major R+D and bring the MG TF into this century. If they had any sense they'd become an OEM partner of Lotus and use their chassis.
