New TF2 CTF Map released!

Im not a big fan of Well, and to be honest havent tried the new game type on it yet as I dont think my regular server UKX3 (formally ******** [competitor?]) has it on its rotation.

As for crazy custom maps, has anyone played on 'Mario Kart'?
its just a mashup with no objective. I treat it as a fun in between type of game to chill out a bit and have a laugh. Doing drive-by on one of the moving vehicles is particularly funny. Good times.

I played the mario kart map last night- it was a terrible game map...but it did indeed make me smile: notably the features such as the Mario soundtrack and health packs in strange place like 2 storeys up etc.

It just seemed to be full of snipers though as the map is so huge they can get about 10 shots off before a scout can reach them :p

an amusing alternative nonetheless, nothing beats a bit of dustbowl though :)
 
Everyone that thinks Dustbowl is the best thing since sliced bread should be spanked by a rotten badger!


That map is so goddam overplayed Im sick of it >.> Find another map to play ffs!
 
A new map & game type which looks a little different..

TF2 update: you may’ve heard that new achievements, maps, and unlockable items are on the way. The first map, Goldrush, introduces a new game mode. The BLU team must escort a high-tech mining cart through a series of checkpoints to the RED base within a time limit. The more BLU players near the cart, the faster the cart moves. The cart stops if any RED team member is in the vicinity. We’re balancing the map now; look for it within the month.

Played something similar to that over the weekend. Had to escort a cart.

Most just ignored to cart and went for each other. Rubbish map because we just got spawn killed by pyros.

Mario Kart is painful on the eyes. Funny though if you go into the dancefloor area.

Theres lots of custom maps on BFL server. I'm on there mostly. Blagged a day off yesterday with man flu so played TF2 all day.
 
I played a good custom map on one of the multiplay uk servers yesterday called arena or something (will have to check the name). Basically it was an open arena / football pitch with your spawn each end + cap point plus a cap point in the middle. It was great - fast and continuous spam :D

True but I have found worse maps, tiny fragfests that I can't even remember the names of. And Volcano is nowhere near as much fun as it sounds.

Just found ctf_convoy - as novelty maps go I think it's great. Really original idea for a map.

CTF definitely > CP (except for gravelpit and dustbowl).

Yes, I tried that, obviously not balanced but was fun for a while. Too easy for snipers. Sound track was a blast from the past.

it's arenabowl or football (in the american sense) or something similar i think. i played it yesterday for about 2 minutes then quit! i really didn't like it!

Our team wasn't doing too well at the start but me and another guy built sentries at our spawn (behind the cover), so they couldn't get too close. Dispensers there helped the snipers stay alive, then tele exits dropped in random places near the centre helped as well (had to keep rebuilding them but even if 2-3 people used them it works well on that map). :D

i really don't like 2fort either! i've had a couple of fun games on it but the majority i've really not enjoyed. i tend to find myself playing dustbowl most of the time. i've a couple of random questions though:

1. how do the stats on your own personal page work? does it only update when you have a complete round? i got 40+ points last night with an engineer yet according to my stats i have a max of 7??

2. what is a complete round?

3. when you discover a spy and start shooting him, is he only revealed as a spy when he dies or after you shoot him loads of times?

Some servers dont update stats very well :/ but Ive never really looked into that too much since I just play :P


Spys only uncover themselves when they die or when they attack you ( shoot/stab ) They can place sappers without uncovering though!

HLSTATX is a third party stats mod which can run on CS or TF2 or a few other HL mods. It keeps track of kills / scores etc and gives you a ranking based on that. You gain rankings by playing etc :) get more points for killing people with a good ranking but you can check an example here
