Last week I changed my ISP to BT, at the end I was with TalkTalk business, previously been transferred from Pipex/Nildram/Tiscali and god knows how many companies until TT took them all over. Over the last few months they'd been throttling the service in the evening to under 1Mbps so I decided to jump ship to BT.
It changed over last Wednesday and the speed was constantly about 6Mbps but the internet keeps cutting off:confused: I'm using the Homehub 3 that they sent but the B light is constantly on and not changing colour to indicate loss of internet.

Last night for instance, I was playing CoD online and 3 consecutive games ( plus more ) I went to 1 bar and lost connection to the game. I could though join straight in to another one ( then lose connection again:rolleyes:)

It does say in the booklet that the internet may slow down or disconnect over the first week while it finds its speed but I didn't think it'd be every 10 minutes.

So is this par for the course or could something else be wrong ?

When you mention '1 bar' are you referring to a wireless connection? If it's the wireless dropping then that's nothing to do with the lines training period.

Try new microfilters
Try unplugging all phones,so you just have the router connected
Try the test socket

Should it suddenly start dropping and needing new filters etc. just because I changed the router ?

I downloaded a pinging programme at lunch, set for every 30 seconds. I'll see how it looks when I get home later.

Going through the basic wiring checks is always a worthwhile first step.

Routers vary in how well they'll hold a connection, and you're presumably now also connected to different equipment at the exchange end.

You'll be starting from scratch with default noise margins etc. so they'll need to be some stabilisation.

DLM would normally disconnect most in the first few days of line training and settle down somewhat after that.

What sort of connection speed where you getting previously to switching to BT?

What are your ADSL line stats as reported by the router?

I'm on the same speed as I have been for the last 7 years, since ADSL Max installed.
