Hi all,

New to PC building. I am looking to build a home system, powerful enough to deal with 3d modelling and the associated rendering. I work in After Effects a lot, so need a decent machine with a fair bit of RAM. I'm no expert, so please help me by using language a newbie can understand.

I feel I need:
- 2 4k monitors
- 32GB RAM for render preview
- a Ryzen 7 processor (happy to take recommendations on which one)
- an intermediate to powerful graphics card
- a main hard drive 1tb and a secondary mechanical

I don't really know much else. For example, I'm not sure what a good CPU would be for this, or whether I'd need an upgraded fan, etc.

Please help me try and figure out a set up.

Thanks a million.

Dan

Thank you for the detailed response.

I use GPU rendering for After Effects. I hear there are big inprovements coming to CPU rendering so I may use that too. Mostly, GPU rendering.

I use Cinema4D for 3D modelling, and am learning Blender.

I use a Ryzen 1700 at work so would like this as a minimum.

Am I missing anything crucial? Am I best to choose a motherboard and base the other decisions around that?

Thanks,

Dan
