Hi all

First time with a K cpu so I'm overclocking it. It's a I7 9700K and I'm aiming for a sensible 5ghz.

Been researching and experimenting...still getting occasional BSOD when launching games etc which I'm 99.9% sure is due to vdroop (after some research).

So I've found the load line calibration setting and set that to Mode 1 which as I understand it is the most aggressive setting for my (MSI) motherboard.

Last BSOD was with 1.32v core and Mode 1 where the voltage ramped up to 1.35 under full load.

I've now upped the voltage to 1.33 which sees 1.36 under full load and will see if that remains stable.

Am I doing the right thing, upping the voltage each time and setting LLC to Mode 1? I gather that this cpu requires somewhere in the ballpark of 1.34 to 1.36v when overclocked, is that right?

I'm using a Kraken x52 aio so temps are not an issue.

OK so after some more googling I've realised my voltage under load shouldn't be more than at idle.

So I've fixed that by setting LLC to Mode 2 @ 1.34v. Now the voltage is exactly the same at idle and under load so no drop in voltage. That's good right?

Yeah I saw that...no such luck here.

After cinebench BSOD again I've given up on 5ghz and dropped to 4.9ghz. That was on 1.37v and I don't fancy going higher than that so guess my chip just doesn't like 5ghz.

Managed 10 cinebench runs with 1.32v @ 4.9ghz which is the best yet. Will see if it remains stable.
