managed to source another asus radeon 4850 for crossfire (after a long wait to get the right card)

i was just after some advice on crossfire.

what card do i plug my monitor in ?

any settings i should worry about in regards of both card's ?

just any general info that might come in handy.

1. Make sure u put on the corssfire bridge.

2. Plug 1 or 2 monitors in the main card (one at the top nearest CPU)

3. The cards will run @ the lowest 4850's speed, so a pre oced one will underclock it's self when corssfired with a stock one

4. When you get into Windows the drivers will ask you if you want to enable crossfire, tick the box

5. Hit some games and check the temps using GPU-Z

6. If you want to overclock, use CCC. You can also have different fan settings for each card in CCC

ive got a asus maximus and yes it is crossfire....made sure i checked that before i brought another card.

if you have the same board as me, I heard it does odd things without the chipset drivers installed with two cards presetn (with thier drivers installed)

the drivers are on the CD that came with the mobo.

its mainly so the OS knows what chipset it is etc and I don't think it would enable crossfire without them anyway

there was a mieth that if two cards are clocked different via BIOS lests say CCC will downclock the fastest card to that of the slowest.
but I also hear that if both cards are the same IE both are HD4850s it will try to overclock the slowest card to the faster one, thats what I heard, I need to check that as i have a HD4870 as a spare

yes I mean both same make and model

i also need a crossfire bridge.

i have looked around and there seems to be different ones.

what one do i need please ?

at the end of the day it shouldn't matter.

If it does underclock then just set it back. if it doesn't you'll probably have to change the speed anyway.

was the original card that you had schizo220168 overclocked?

i also need a crossfire bridge.

didn't you get one in the original box, they usually come free if you want to crossfire later

ahh i have no need to expirment than :)

how much higher may I ask?

*edit* crossfire bridges normally come bundled with the card were did you get this second asus card? and is it OEM?

and no they are basicly the same, I belive well they better be >_>
