Hi im new to this. Running Linux. Doing Rosetta@home. I joined the Overclockers UK team. Im using something called BOINC is that the correct thing to use?

Thanks, Ross

Welcome aboard whatever you're running. Note that Folding is a specific type of distributed computing from Stanford University. Rosetta & BOINC are distributed computing but are not Folding.

Rosetta is a similar but completely separate project to Folding. If you did want to do Folding, a Linux machine is perfect for making the most of a multi-core CPU as the multiprocessor Folding client is very stable and fast on Linux.

I think I will stick with rosetta. It uses 100% of both cpu's all the time. Is this safe? The computer does not seem especially hot.

The computer is not that good, so dont expect too much. Its a dual core intel but not overly fast. its 2.2ghz i think. I may overclock.
