hello

i have an fx 8350 and folloed a few guides around the net but cant seem to clock this chip past 4.4. does anyone have some advice or settings that may work

thnx to anyone who replies

What motherboard are you using?

What cooling are you using?

What are your VRM, CPU temps?

What is your voltage?

If your RAM is above 1333GHz, it might be better to turn it down just while your testing ground for your overclock.

What about your CPU voltage?

Your temperature is really high at the moment. Its literately on the borderline for a safe fx chip. If the only thing you have done is increase the multiplier and you cant get it past 4.4 with just that, it usually means you need more voltage but with your current temperature is already too high for you to up it more.

Is the 62'C when your stress testing it on prime95 or similar program?

Prime is no good for stress testing AMD to the fullest. Use Linx if you must stress test at all. I prefer to just use a system to see if its stable then adjust from that. I pulled a random 8350 from stock the other day and got 4930, 1.525v stable for graphics testing etc etc. This was on air.

I did run linx too for one pass and it was fine at 4.75+ ghz because of temps I did not bother with linx at higher OC's but they where stable to do what I needed the machine to do and this was with 225+HTT and 2100+ DIMMS at Cas7.

You need to post more settings so we can help further.

A word of advice, guides are guides they are not to be taken literally. Two people with the exact same setup can get two different results.

Not every cpu is made equal. A cpu at the top of the die when created could be really crap at overclocking whilst the one in the middle might be really good.

When you reach your limit there isn't much you can do unless you know someone with endless supply of cash and liquid nitrogen.
