Hi all

Im new to the gaming pc family... I currently have a PC that i use for games and works well... Just want to know what you people can suggest for upgrades to it... Ill put specs below. All im wanting to play is

Euro truck sim 2
Football manager 16
Arma 3

SPECS:

HP P6320UK
Intel core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20ghz
6GB RAM
64 bit operation system

Thanks

Bit basic on the specs there mate. But a quick google tells me what you have got (unless you have changed it from the basic spec)

First thoughts are that you

1)Need a little more RAM (8gb should be a minimum)
2)A better GPU (graphics card) for gaming is a MUST. A 5450 isnt going to perform well with recent titles at all. My concern with this, is if you upgrade you will probably need a new PSU as well. You only have 300W according to the basic spec.

Hope that helps

Ahhh i see, so how much do you think i could get it running at a decent rate... My budget is around £400 as i dont have many funds for now

Thank for your help

Without looking directly at the prices on OCUK.

1)Nvidia 970 will be about 250 GBP
2)550 to 650w PSU will be about 70 GBP
3)2 x 4gb DD3 will be about 60 GBP

In total 380 GBP

Just get someone to install them for you.

Thats my take on it anyway, unless someone else has any ideas.

So pretty good on costs, will i be able to get them from Overclockers... And im guessing they will just go straight into my PC system...

Thanks

All available from OCUK.

Should go straight in.

Graphics cards can be quite long, so one thing I always do it measure the possible physical distance in the PCI-E slot (thats the one your current 5450 will be in).

Then look at the length of the card you want to buy to make sure it fits. This is not normally an issue, but I have been stung on this before when I first starting doing up my PCs a number of years ago, and its a paranoia sorta of thing. Most 970s will be around the 240 to 250mm range. But do check this on the card you want to buy.

If you are new to PCs get someone who knows what they are doing. Last thing you want to do is damage anything!

The most difficult part will be the PSU.

Finally ensure you do a proper driver uninstall for your ATI before you pop in Nvidia to ensure you do not get any nasty driver conflicts. Personally I would do an OS re install, but some other people would tell you that its overkill to do that.

Random question do you think the all in one PC's are any good for gaming.. Seen a few on the net that look smart

No, I would stay well clear of them.

+1

Can run hot; some models are a pain to work with; limited upgrade potential (though with external GPU docks on the way, this may become less of an issue soon enough for gaming machines); the balance between the screen quality and spec varies; and may not be the one you are willing to make.

Thanks for your replies, ive chosen to build my own gaming PC, Will just need a bit of help knowing which parts to buy
