I just got my first VR headset, a very mediocre and cheap 'VR Box' from the auction site, so now I am entitled to ask a series of stupid questions on a forum :)

It does the job, but I am left wondering, can you make android act like its in the VR set while you are outside the actual content? The experience is pretty much ruined by having to constantly take the phone out to start this or that video and then quickly put it back in before you miss half the video.

The first screen of the google cardboard app is two choices, cardboard demos and 360 video channel, that appears as the standard screen, ie, doesnt look right with the headset on. Then if you go to the 360 videos its a youtube channel, and that app is still in the full screen, only once I start the video I want to watch AND tap the cardboard icon can I put the phone in the headset and start watching that video.

My cardboard came with a magnet on it that you can swipe to activate it as a selection. It only really works on full on VR apps though. Doubt it'd work in just youtube
