new to i7, spec and OC Q's

hey thinking about making the leap up to the i7 core :D but i have a couple of questions... first off the specs:

CPU:
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping

dont want to spend anymore on the chip as this seems to be great value for the clocks that can be achieved:)

MOBO:
Asus P6T Deluxe v2 Intel X58

have heard good things about this board and currently have an asus board so know the format and like the standard :)

so yea not really sure which one to go for... i mean the blade and dominator are equally priced but with the blade being 400mhz faster so this shoudl allow greater flexibility when over clocking. any idea when it will be instock as its pre order? also with the reaper ram how high are they as im thinking about sticking a dominator fan over them...

hoping to go for atleast 4GHz cpu speed so need some ram that can match it.

Cooler:
thinking about going for the thermalright ultra extreme 120 as i have the am2/775 version now on my clocked c2d and under stress the temp is 36oc so i know they are good at cooling. anyone else got this on an i7? how are the temps?


so yes there are a few basic questions, which ram would be good for my needs? so yea down to the nitty gretty part now...

when overclocking my c2d it was a pretty quick learning session and i was away, but with this new i7 theres quite a few new aspects that im not too sure on.... whats this new turbo thingy?! what are the things i will need to disable/enable in bios.... what are the stock volts and what are the safe limits? what other volts will i need to increase and by how much?

how high can i realistically get (hope for like 4.5GHz but i think i might be dreaming :p )
 
For the ram id go for Patriot Viper and for the cpu cooler the Noctua NH-U12P. For the i7 920 people are getting to 3.8 under the stock volts so you shouldn't have too much trouble overclocking although 4.5 might be abit high. I've seen people with the extreme versions getting to 4.5 but not the 920.
 
coos thanks :) il have a look at that ram. have heard its name about the plce and that cooler too, has two fans yea? any one got any comments about my other questions? also how does the ram speed relate to cpu/NB speeds as i now the workings with cd2 but as its ddr3 im not sure... would i be beter off going for a hight PC rated ram to give me more flexibility if i want to go towards 4.5?
 
fair enough :) was thnking with the cooler... have they made the base bigger on the TRUE120 since i purchased mine like a year and a half ago? just wondering if it would be possible to purchase a new bracket and back plate from the company or somewhere and use my current cooler rather than spending 47-57£ on a new version of the cooler of the noctua cooler....
