New to Kaspersky

Hi,

My NOD subscription ran out recently and I thought I'd try KAV2009 seeing as it's so cheap for a 3 user license.

I've currently got the trial installed with most options enabled, when opening some applications I get a popup appear whilst it "scans" something, when it finishes the app loads.

What option enables this, and is it really needed? One of the things that has kept me with NOD for so long is that you rarely notice it's there unless it detects a threat.

I'm not sure what exactly it's doing, it pops up for a few seconds when I load some applications; not all though.

It'll do that initially, as it seemingly seems to remind itself (or the user) how it moniters programs.
