Managed to set up a Ventrilo server, took me about 3 hours to learn how to install things, no wizards here! It's all running fine now with a decent codec.

Now going to set-up a 1.6 Dedicated Server, will look for a guide later on and will be back with another thread if I fail.

What's the best way of managing/administering the server remotely? Assuming I go the remote desktop route, what program should I use, I tried installing realvnc from a package, no idea if it worked or not (as it wasn't in the Synaptic Package Manager (added all search 'options'))

Clues?

If you want to remove in, i would suggest ssh as well though if you must connect to the desktop then could always use vnc

ssh +1 (Putty, obviously)

If there's a gui that you absolutely MUST use from your linux box, you could always install Xming on windows and start the gui from your ssh shell.
