Just wanted confirmation on something I done to see if it was ok as I've been messing around with my setup which is fairly old and thought I'd have a play with it.

My stock settings for my Q6600 was FSB 266 and multiplier of 9 which gave the 2400Mhz

I changed it to FSB 400 and multiplier of 8 to bring it to 3200Mhz. My query was that because I changed the FSB, how does it affect my DRAM frequency which currently reads 400Mhz at 1:1. Is this ok or do I need to change anything else?

I ran Prime 95 for an hour or so and all was good, it's the numbers I'm not sure about.

Edit: changed the numbers slightly.

If you're reading the speed from CPU-Z then you have to double what it says as it's Double Data Rate RAM.

So if CPU-Z says 400MHz then the RAM is running at 800MHz.

Just had a look at which type of RAM that I have and it's this:

Model
Brand G.SKILL
Model F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ
Type 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM
Capacity 4GB (2 x 2GB)
Speed DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000)
Cas Latency 5
Timing 5-5-5-15
Voltage 2.0V - 2.1V
ECC No
Buffered/Registered Unbuffered
Multi-channel Kit Dual Channel Kit
Heat Spreader Yes

Would that information paint a better picture of what I should see in CPU-Z compared to what I currently have as stated in my OP.

What a very odd speed of RAM.

If it was running at full speed (1000MHz) then the Memory tab in CPU-Z would show 500MHz instead of 400MHz.

You need to see if there's a memory divider of 5:4 instead of 1:1.

Surveyor, I appreciate your help with this, thank you. I changed the DRAM frequency from Auto to 1003Mhz as that was closest to 1000Mhz. In Cpu-Z it now reads DRAM Frequency 500Mhz and FSB: DRAM 4:5

Only seen a few 1000mhz ddr2 kits, iirc ocz done one. Whereas the normal was 1066 in that speed range.
