Im completely new to overclocking as i have never done it before, i have a basic understanding of hardware as i have built 2 systems myself and the one i am running now is the most recent one i built. My specs are AMD FX 6300 Black edition unlocked at 3.5ghz and an sapphire radeon r9270 and my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P AMD Socket AM3+ Motherboard. I am running a stock cooling on my GPU and CPU,i have 1 120mm fan at the front as an intake, and a 120mm exhaust at the top back end of the case. All the cabling is mostly tidy and produces a good airflow, the top back of the case does warm up when gaming, but thats because of all the hot air rising towards the exhaust. The PC is on my desk, my room is well ventilated also.
All Triple A games are fine, above 60fps on high to ultra settings, BF4 Titanfall etc. But im an avid ArmA III and DayZ player, and for those who may or may not know, the engine is badly coded for AMD hardware and somewhat obselete and even though its not my system, the frames it produces are not up to standard, and sometimes can be a little unplayable. Which i find odd as its brand new, and good with any other game.
The GPU and CPU both have stock cooling, GPU using latest 15.3 Beta driver. Ive tried launch parameters for ArmA III and tweaks, they improved a little, but id like a stable framerate on servers that are full 80/80 players. The AMD gpu and cpu both use AMD overdrive, can i use AMD overdrive to overclock to achieve better frames? Or should i do a safe BIOS overclock? Which i dont know how to do, and i dont particularly know how to use AMD overdrive. I want a subtle overclock that produces a higher fps, by overclocking cpu and gpu. I just want to know how to overclock a small deal to get better frames in these games.
