So I recently built up my PC and i thought I'd have a go at overclocking but when i went to it the mobo already said it would do it automatically, its currently running 4.4Ghz at 1.1V with temps of 30 degrees .

Would you bother pushing it much futher?

EDIT* the CPU is a 4690K

Is that underload?

Use Prime95 Small FFTs.

Don't use prime95 on a haswell CPU, temps will be too high and easily hit throttling point. They get close enough to thus at stock nevermind oc'd. For stress testing, download Asus real bench and run it. Much more realistic load and lower temps.

Haha, i was thinking i could go further. I've seen some people get them to 4.8Ghz, now that i would like! I will run real bench and see how it copes.

The fan i've got is huge, so big it almost doesn't fit in the case! so cooling shouldn't be a problem.

EDIT*

I can be a bit blonde at times, just ran a stress test and forgot to open the program to monitor the temps, doh!

I don't know.. have a look!

I'm guessing that's stable. It didn't show any signs of stopping or like it was having a trouble when doing the test

Haha, oops! I thought it worked the other way around, the red was the one you are doing.

I am using a Raijintek Themis Direct Contact CPU Cooler
(http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-RT)

I'll run a proper stress test and see what happens, i haven't actually played with any settings myself yet, thats just what the mobo has done for me. I am just wondering if it was worth it going further?

That's with a corsair h75

Is this not water cooled? So you'll be getting lower temps anyway? Right?

EDIT*

I just ran a stress test and got the same temps at before, average of low 60's and max of 68.

Just upped it to 4.6Ghz and got a 4 degree temp rise, max of 72 but average of 60 degrees. This was under a 30 minute stress test.

Should i see if it will go up to the 4.8Ghz mark? Temps seem to be relatively cool comparing to guide of OC, 3 simple steps write up which were saying max of 85?
