Good afternoon all,

I have been away from pc for a while now. Looking to back back into some gaming. I have just picked up a new pc but I need a better gpu.

I currently have

Intel i5 4460 quad core 3.2 ghz,
12 gb ram (2x16)

I have an old gpu which is a geforce gtx 650 ti

I need to replace my psu also as only have 240 watt at the moment. The pc is stock. Looking around £180

rx 480 is coming out in 4 days. you could maybe get a 4gb one for £180, maybe a little more. Either way, wait until its out, the GPU market might be a little different then, so any advice you get today might not be much use to you then.

If you wait until Wednesday the new RX480 will be released and we should be able to see the performance.

The 4GB version may fall within your budget and will probably be a quality card for you. Failing that we should know more about the rx 470 soon too.

Depends what you want to play, you haven't really specified what games you'll want to be playing and whether you wanna be playing these games just default settings, high, whatever. What res will you be playing at?

Is the geforce gtx 650 ti any good

Depends what you call good.

Its an old low end card, so its not great. But it will be fine for lots of games. Source games and the like will play fine on it, but new games its going to be pretty bad for.

Not for any modern games. For pre 2010 games and indie games it will be ok.

If your budget is £180 for the gpu alone the 480 on the 29th is the obvious choice.

If your budget is for the GPU + PSU I would suggest a decent 500w psu and a RX 470. You will be able to play any game at 1080p/high/60fps no problem with this.

before my 270x i had a evga 560 superclocked 1gb version and for what it is mated to my i3 it played BF4 quite well, FO4 well enough for a broken game lol, SWBF, project cars, RB6S and the division all better than you wouldve thought, was better suited for the older BF4 and newer Star wars, but still would have another if i was desperate, though think my 260x is better.

so i would have thought the 650ti be pretty good to an extent especially when i play on high settings on my games ;)
