Worth talking it through bud, at 100 posts you get free P&P ;)

How would you feel about building one yourself? We can provide links to video tuts and help walk you through the process. We can spec something better than that for £800 notes

Been thinking about self building but never had the 'bottle' to do it.

Sausage fingers and all that :D

Shall I start a 'Spec Me' thread or would you guys be so kind as to put it in here?

Building yourself is not as difficult as it used to be. Most components now and just plug in and work!

also looking at that spec in the OP is not the k version i5 processor so you wont be able to overclock it (if you wanted to and is very easy to do get it to 4.2/4.4GHz

Mini-itx just to be a little different.

The prebuild rig you are looking at doesn't have sataIII and being a H61 mobo you can't overclock which is why they haven't put in a 3570K (The K means it's unlocked for OC'ing).

What I learnt is if you are seriously considering building a PC is to make sure you get the correct components at the start so you don't have to buy things again. I would stick with a standard ATX case and a standard ATX motherboard. For this reason I would go with a popular case as a this Coolermaster one. Would fit most beginner and high end builds.

There has been some great advice above about building your own PC and it is as easy as they make it sound. All you really need is a screwdriver.

A mini-ITX build does look nice but can be very fiddly to build and can be expensive. Best to stick to ATX, that way you can't get a component that won't fit.

Going out on a limb but there will always be people on here and in person who can help you out..

As others have mentioned, I say build it yourself there are plenty of people here that would help you if you got stuck and plenty of youtube videos. You will have much more satisfaction knowing you built it and you will save some pennies.

To be fair the prodigy is larger than most mini-itx cases but I see where you are coming from.......

I5 3570k, z77 motherboard hd 7950, 8gb mem 1600, 128gb ssd, 1tb hdd, 600w psu
the rest is pretty basic and personal choice... case, optical drive and brands.

It is nerve-racking the first time but the key is to take it slow and do not rush if you are unsure, any problems take a break come on here and ask a question no matter how small, then go back to it feeling confident about what you are doing. Once you get that first build out of the way you will wonder what all the fuss was about!

Looks like I'll be building my own then guys after watching the YouTube video that was linked, the thought of it was very daunting at first.

Also thanks for all of the specs. Already have a 128 crucial SSD which is in my current desktop store bought PC.

might come in handy?

You're welcome :)

It's your build so have some fun with it. Find a case you like. I used the Shinobi as that's what the linked prebuild used, so I figure you like the style and colour. Building isn't difficult really. The tricky part is picking the best parts and balancing it all to a budget.

I look forward to seeing you give it a crack.....we won't laugh just point out any adjustments if needed.

P.S Yes the SSD will indeed be handy

I'm in love with these cases kinda regret not building one for myself now! If I was gonna build a PC now it would be this for sure, although personally I would have a SSD and Windows 7 ;)
