New to PS3

I'm not holding my breath for co-op on Resistance 3. Even though it is by far and away the best component of any game I've ever played, I don't think it was hugely popular with the great unwashed.

I'm sick to death of competitive multiplayer (read: not being able to smash people's faces in when they kill you) so the co-op was a total breath of fresh air.

I thought the reception was pretty positive from everyone in truth. Surely it's one of the main selling points for number 3 when it comes out? Otherwise it doesn't greatly deviate from a bog standard modern FPS barring having a decent singleplayer.

suprised no one mentioned Heavy Rain has to be one of the best games i've played in a long time. It's got a very good story line and last a good while on your first play through i still play it now even tho i completed it 4 times since release

Demon's Souls is currently the only game that makes me think it's worth having a console. If it wasn't for that I would seriously consider selling it.

p.s.
Kayne & Lynch 2 demo is up on the 20th for + subscribers.

So the demo to the sequel of a really bad game is available early to people who pay for the service? lol

Already played the demo myself, it's actually rather good. Still seems a bit 'shallow' just as the first game was, but I really like the style and direction of the game this time around. Won't be a release-day purchase for me at the moment, but I'll certainly get it at some point.

Ive just picked up Colin Mcrae Dirt 2 today since its now a platunim title, mainly to fill the racing game void until Gran Turismo 5s fabled release. From what ive played its very good :) Also, a very underrated game is Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 if thats your thing

I never understand why publishers restrict access to demos. Surely a demo is a tool to sell games. If no-one can see it, why would they buy it.

I am new too and i am not impressed that the latest multiplayer demos are psn plus subscribers only ? one of the reasons i got a ps3 is the free online. Not happy that i cant play the kayne n lynch 2 demo unless I pay, if this is a sign of things to come may as well sell up and go back to 360.

You'll get it on Weds, + subscribers just get first dibs and a push download.

Really ? as I read it wont be available to non psn + for a week
We’ve got exciting news for PlayStation Plus members! On Tuesday, July 20, an exclusive demo of Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days will be available for automatic delivery to your PlayStation 3 system, just for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The demo is available exclusively to PlayStation Plus members for one week on the PlayStation Store — both by automatic download and from the storefront.

The demo will be available to all PlayStation Store users on Tuesday, July 27.

I know I am a moany git but psn + should be about full games etc don't start making demo's elitist only for psn + paying customers that's taking the biscuit really.

That's the marketing guff: http://uk.playstation.com/playstationplus/

Basically it's £40 a year like Xbox Live, and every month Sony give their Playstation Plus subscribers free games, avatars, themes and a few other things. It also adds an option where you set a time and your PS3 will search for all your game updates and also download demos and other stuff it thinks you might be interested in. Mine is set for 4-6 am so while I'm asleep it'll switch on, check for updates for my games, check for firmware updates, check for any demos it thinks I might want to try, download them and then turn it's self off. When you turn the system back on it will let you know what it's downloaded for you.

There's also rumours of Party Chat being added a little later on with Playstation Plus subscribers having access to it, although we don't know much really as it's just rumours. In a nut shell it's £40 a year for a bunch of free content and discounts that change on a monthly basis. It's a total lottery as Sony won't be announcing what is free each month but either way you look at it it's still good value for money as I've almost gathered most of my money back purely from Destruction Derby, Little Big Planet and Wipeout HD which was given away to me in the first month.

The general consensus is that it's not worth it if you're in Europe. I wouldn't spend any money on it yet. NeoGAF, SA and 1up forums all think it's a waste of money because the content is starved and very sparse on the ground compared to the US PSN+ service.

Thing is it's probably PSN+ users that get the demo a week earlier rather than normal users getting it a week late.

No different to what's been done on Xbox Live before though. Why should people pay for PlayStation+ if they aren't going to get benefits like that with it?
