Hi guys

My girl friend has just updated her pc quite a bit and has gone sli and is due to go dual core next week.

I ran a 3Dmark 06 test before upgradeing, AMD64 3000+, 1gb RAM & XFX 7800GT. Score was 3961, SM2=1951, HDR/SM3=2061 CPU=723

After putting an Asus 7800GT along side the XFX one the score was 3950,SM2=2051, HDR/SM3=2090 CPU=723

Does this sound about right??

Oh before someone says 2 gfx cards is over kill for 3000+ she has a X2 4800 on the way.

yep SLI enabled and I get the bubble on start up saying that it is enabled. Also in device manager both cards are showing.

Have you checked with the load balancing to make sure that both cards are working in SLi.

When you run something like games etc... with the load balancing you'll get it showing on screen the load being split between the 2x cards so you know its actually working, ive never used SLi myself like but the load balancing does show you if its working. :)

Did you remeber to connect the cards using the SLI bridge. Do both cards have power?

Is the 3000+ clocked at all, if not it will be a major bottleneck for SLI 7800GTs which could be the reason for no increase in score.

To check both cores are working tick the box that says show load balancing in SLI options in the control panel, then run a benchmark and it shows both gpus working.

ok will try the load balancing tonight, the bridge conector is on. You may be right about the 3000+ being a bottle neck if both gpus are running I will try a bench mark with the 4800 as that should let them run freely. Is 2 7800GT over kill for the 4800?

Should be fine mate, try 3DM06 as it takes advantage of the dual cores in the 4800+ :)
