Hi guys i could`nt see a newbie section so il post this here and if its in the wrong section a mod can move it.

I recently bought a packard bell x2.0 for gaming, it came with a geforce 1.5gb gt130 ( which im not sure is the equivalent of because i have never heard of it) But cut a long story short i took it back the next day because i was hoping to fit X2 gtx260 but the power supply was only 400w!

I have since found a guy who can build me this spec system for less £750!

Here is the spec tell me what you think, hopefully i can play crysis on the highest settings possible along with my other favourite games like left 4 dead.

Why get a guy to build it when you can order all the componants on overclockers and build it yourself....

Its a fun hobby :D

I did think aboout building it myself but i have a lot going on so would find it hard to get the time to do it, overall though do you think its a good spec for gaming on crysis etc?

I would have bought from here but i only found this site after i had already paid for my rig to be built:(

Still have i got myself a powerfull setup for gaming?

Sounds like you found same type of bloke running my local computer shop. He thought i was some clueless mug, gave him a budget of of 1k.

He offers me some old AMD, 4gb ram, windows xp, and i think a gts 250. Oh but he was nice enough to through in a £60 keyboard:rolleyes:

I should have just lamped him, but kindly walked out saying no thanks.

Moral of story, don't trust local shops.

The joys of knowledge eh :D lol

Far fewer than the purple shirts. Give the guy a call and ask to swap the processor for an e8400 if he's willing, the 3ghz stock speed will make a big difference despite the fewer core count.

Instead of
Major Brand 8gb DDR2 800 PC6400 CL6.0
Go for 4gb of PC6400 cl4, made by either ocz or corsair. Cost for this ram will be the same, performance better.

I don't like that he doesn't list the motherboard or the psu. Everything has a brand, I can find you a branded 750W that'll blow up at the sight of sli graphics cards.

The whole thing looks a bit suspect really, what's the aftersale support like?

edit: and welcome :)

Remember if he sold it to you as a top notch gaming machine you could get a refund as law states what you brought must be fit for the purpose described.

I'd also not bother with an nForce motherboard, an intel chipset is usually better, and get yourself a 5850 over GTX260 SLi as it'll be around the same speed but cheaper and it's a lot more modern.

GTX260s are old tech now.

I will let you all know when and if it all goes bang but im sure it wont and aslong as it performs good enough for my games of choice il stay happy with my purchase;)

Don't want to put you off your rig. its a decent rig based on the idea that a shop is building it for you (as they usually like to rob people, its not personal, its just business lol) however if you were to have invest your time, then you could have got a better rig for that money.
