I have a Intel D865GLC mobo with a 3ghz P4 800 fsb, nvidia 6600, 1.5 gb DDR400 PC3200 ram dual channeled,

I ran 3Dmark 05 and the result was 1876, is this about right for this system?

is ther any way of overclocking with an intel mobo?

is it worth overclocking the 6600 (not a GT) graphics card, if so any ideas how far i could push it, or is it a suck it and see aproach.

any suggestions on how to increase the system performance.

any advice would be greatly apriciated, Thanks

For a 6600 that seems about right, on an Athlon64 3500+ 1GB Ram and a 6600GT note that the GT has quite a performance increase over the 6600 i was getting a score of 3000.. with my 6800GT 3GHz P4 800fsb and 1GB DDR400 i was getting around the 5000 mark. and even now with my latest Dual Core System with my 7800GT and gig of DDR800 i'm only sitting around the 7000 mark. for most systems today 3d mark 03 is still a better test i personally think.

As for overclocking your card, i'm not sure how much more you'll get out of it, you may be able to push it to GT speeds, but as always be careful and do it in steps.

Overclocking your CPU, out of experiance makes the biggest performance generally.. i got my 3gig chip to 3.5 stable, but it hated anything above that. but that was on an Abit IC7-Max3 and that board overclocks like a dream.

poeple with greater knowledge than me will be able to give more advice

How can anyone compare 3D Mark scores as there are loads of setting that could change the score. Or does everyone have the free version that you cant change the settings (like me). I have a 3200 and a 6800GT and get 5500 3D marks (thats on the free version). Im not 100% sure but i dont think you can have 1.5gb of ram in dual channel mode, i thought you had to use 2 identical modules for dual channel?.

Thanks for the advice.

Each channel has two slots with 512 & 256mb, but i think i might try running it with just 512 on each channel.

If you get coolbits gfx card overclocking program it will give you your optimum gfx card speed, then all you do is clock it a few mhz below that figure. Somtimes you can unlock pipelines ect and turn the card into a GT but i dont know all the details, im sure somebody will post with details. I have overclocked my 6800GT to Ultra specs 400/1100 using Rivatuner, it was very easy to do and has added a noticable boost in games, the temps have hardle risen as well using my trusty Arctic NV Silencer.
