New to this, considering overclocking

I made an account here when I started looking into to building a pc back in 2013. I ended up getting a Haswell i3-4130 with 4G ram, integrated graphics & a CX430W PSU around 2014 which didn't have much scope for tinkering.

I began making some upgrades when the psu died and, eventually, over the summer and festive period last year the old workhorse is feeling a little beefier:

Gigabyte Z87-HD3
Intel i7-4790k
24GB DDR3 1600
Red Dragon RX590 8G
EVGA 600W PSU

I'm happy with the setup but it would be nice to see if I can squeeze a little more out of it over the next few years. Also seems a shame to not try turning up the i7-4790k to 11 just to see if I got a lucky one.

A few questions:

Am I right in thinking I should stay well away from any overclocking whilst I'm still running the stock cooler that came with my i3-4130?

Do you have any suggestions for a budget friendly cooling solution for the above build? Is it worth looking at the secondhand market? Are cpu coolers a generic fit? I'm in no rush.

I'm a complete n00b to overclocking, are there any particular knobs I should or shouldn't be turning on this hardware?

Considering undervolting the RX590 to reduce power/noise - will there be dragons if I turn the cpu up and the gpu down?

Is overclocking ram of much benefit and/or possible?

I'm running linux, suspect that matters little when playing with the bios, but curious if there's any software or general tips that may be useful.
