Hi!! Im new to watercooling and just pricing things up at the mo to buy in the future. At the mo i have a 4870x2 but im planning on getting another and running them in crossfire and have them both watercooled! Im not really planning to water cool my phenom 955 as its allready at 3.6Ghz and for gaming i dont think an extra few Mhz will effect the performance. I just have a couple of questions

1: All i need for a watercooling system is this? 1 radiator, 1 good pump (sniggers), 1 resivour and VGA water blocks? (not including the pipes etc)

2:Will i have to buy two rads, two pumps etc to cool the double vga's? or wqill one be okay for both?

3: can i have one of the radiators above the actual PC? (im planning on having it next to an open window so the room dosnt get too hot in the summer)

thanks for any help you can give this noob :D

I would get one quality PA120.3 Radiator I have two of the same cards and they put out A LOT of heat.. you then need 1 quality pump DDC-10 or 18 watt.. two water blocks and tubing you can run in the same loop..

1. Yes

2. One rad, one pump if you want to keep things simple. Just remember to get a decent sized radiator, a 240 or 360. Bear in mind the 2nd 4870 will be slightly higher temp, but this will not matter unless you are overclocking them to the limit.

You can make a dual loop - have a look at the XSPC Dual Loop reservoir where you can mount 2 Laing DDC pumps. Thats one dual reservoir, 2 pumps, 2 rads and a pain in the butt amount of tubing and connectors.

3. Yes, just above the PC, you do need to minimise the amount of tubing, otherwise you need a larger (read: max.head) pump to compensate pushing all that water around. As long as the radiator isn't in direct sunlight you can put it by a window if you wish, though this is still subject to the earlier point of reducing tubing.

Hmm it will be in direct sunlight but i can allways put it out the way during day! Or something like that! The window is around 2 and a half foot away from the back of my pc So say 3 ftish (92Cm)i dont mind it being a bit higher tempt tbh. Tbh im not sure im going to bother!i may just get a 5870x2 when it comes out!! .. thought i would love a watercooled pc :D lol ty for your help i understand it a lot more now :D
