hi everyone this is my first post so hope i put it in the right forum. i have just set up a wireless connection and have a couple of questions. first i have enabled the WPA-PSK protection on the router. i use a netgear adapter do i need to enable the WPA-PSK protection on it as well?. at the minute on the adapter settings it says no security enabled. second question. my wireless connection is on all the time. do i need another firewall apart from the vista firewall & router firewall? i would be greatful for any advice...

What you must do is.

1. Encrypt your wireless signal with WPA-PSK using as big a password as you can remember. Use the full range of ASCII characters (including space). If it is available use WPA2.

2. Disable the Radio broadcast of your router (if poss), however Vista machines can still "see" then but lists them as unknown.

3. Change the default user name and password wor the Router.

4. Enable MAC Filtering to the specific machines that you use.
