Looking to replace my WRT54GL with something that will cover me for when my WISP offers faster than 10mb download speeds.

From this forum I have short listed the following:
Asus RT-N16
Netgear W3500L

I'm leaning towards the Asus RT-N16 as it has a larger ram spec.

I will be loading Tomato onto the any replacement but I am unsure which files to get for the Asus RT-N16.

If somebody could confirm the latest stable beta of Tomato for the Asus that I can download before I place any order.

If your spending that much money I think your better off with making a pc based router.
You can use smoothwall or other flavors listed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_router_or_firewall_distributions.
You only need at least a 233mhz with 128MB RAM pc but I suggest at least a P3 1ghz with 512MB RAM and
3 or 4 network card depending on your needs.A cheap 3Com 3C905 series network card is suitable.
I'm suggesting this card cause its well supported/cheap and mostly it is equal or better than the newer 10/100 cards.

I have a WNR3500L with Tomato on. Was fairly easy to do, need to flash with DDWRT first and then tomato. The version of tomato is excellent (v1.28.9050 MIPSR2-beta20 K26 USB Ext). I followed a guide on this site: http://www.myopenrouter.com/ has lots of other useful info as well.

I am a complete newbie when it comes to this tomato issue and until I started reading a bit about my current issue, had thought this thread was gobbledigook. However whilst trying to make use of some existing hardware I have lying around, it now appears that I need to gen up a bit.

Essentially I am trying to improve the wireless strenth of equipment downstairs and at the front of the house (specifically my IP camera). My internet access is via a Netgear DG834N V1 modem/router using 1.01.06 DGTEAM Rev.0743 firmware but I also have a Buffalo Airstation WHR-HP-54G router/accesspoint (this was my former router for internet access). It appears to be able to use WDS but I don't think my Netgear can with its current firmware.

Whilst investigating this, various forums posts have referred to the flakiness of WDS and recommended Tomato. Here is my main question: Do I flash Tomato just onto the Buffalo or does it need to go on the Netgear also? If anyone has any tutorials for what I am trying to achieve I would be really grateful.
