Ok first off, this isn't a Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD debate, more a great sign of how HD players are falling in price!

Toshiba EP-30 is out in October, with full 1080p / 24Hz output (at last..), and the deal is that it comes bundled in the box with "300" and "The Bourne Identity", and then you can send off for 5 more free HD-DVDs from a set selection, and there are some good ones in there. You have to pick your 5 from:

2 from Corpse Bride, Prestige, Troy, Swordfish, FullMetal Jacket.

2 from Hulk, Serenity, Chronicles of Riddick, Fast & Furious 2, Children of Men.

1 from World Trade Center, Dreamgirls, Black Rain.

Some sites are taking pre-orders for £199, which is pretty outstanding considering you get 7 free HD-DVDs and full 1080p support at last.
Personally I'll be selling my Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on in preparation! :D

That is great news, have not bought a standalone due to not supporting 24hz. Though now with one at that price and with free movies, they have just made an offer I certainly cant refuse.

I hope the hardware is worth it , I find the Toshiba E1 frustrating sometimes.

Great offer if you are just starting your collection especially - however there isnt a single disc I would want of the ones I dont allready have on one format or the other.

I preordered this yesterday, with the price at £199 and the 7 free discs its a bit of a no brainer! Will go nicely with my 42X3030D :)

Sounds interesting, looking to get a hd-dvd or blu ray player, this might persuade me to bridge the gap for now and hopefully push me into upgrading my surround sound setup :D
