merry xmas to you too

anyway i specced you a system, i kept the mobo you mentioned at the end as i assume there was something about that that you liked how ever it is expensive. the case i kept aswell as that is a personal choice and you like it.
the power supply i have changed if you are only going to have one gfx card then you dont need that kind of power supply. it would be better to get a new nvidia card like you said as that is dx10 compatible ready for new windows vista there will be new ati cards out for dx10 january some time i think the end the gtx card would be better but woud put you over *** top on the price, maybe if you saved some on the motherboard. also i changed to a 74raptor to use for windows and games and a seperate 250gb drive for storage. anyway hre it is

 OMG this has to be the most helpful post ever

Anyway, thanks for the build thefishdude, that's the one i more then likely go for. The PSU should be able to handle another GeForce 8800 GTS, should i choose to go sli in the future...shouldn't it?

IMPORTANT!!!

You CANNOT go SLI with GeForce 8800-series cards on a DQ6.

You can't do it with any Intel chipset based motherboard, in fact.

nVidia haven't emphasised this nearly as much as they should, but to run 8800-series cards in SLI, the motherboard MUST be able to run dual x16 PCI-E slots at their full x16 speed at native hardware level. The only boards that currently can do this are those based around nVidia's nForce 680i chipset. All the Intel chipset boards that boast two x16 PCI-E slots are only capable of running them in x8 mode in tandem, or sometimes with one at x16 and one at x4.

In any case, if you want to SLI your GeForce cards, then nVidia 680 is the only game in town. That limits you to the BFG mobo you mentioned, or the EVGA nForce 680 board, or the ASUS Striker Extreme.

You may well already know that, but I just wanted to make sure for your benefit :)

not sure if that power supply is enough for sli gts it could be im sure some one on here will be able to tell you though.

just checked on nvidia sli site and it said that the corsair 620 wont do sli gts's :(

I'd drop that PSU and go for a lower one to save money. I don't think the Secure Connect things are really worth it for £5.

I don't see much point in SLi by the time you can afford another GFX card, you might be better off with a new card altogether.
