Got myself a new lens today fresh from an e-tailer in Hong Kong, not the usual SLR lens you see everyday. Anyone want to try guess what it is? :)

Its not a Carl Zeiss, that would be this one

Since I shown you that pic you would probably guess through google that the lens in question is also a M-Mount lens.

Cosina Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1 Nokton.

My new toy is more unusual :p (Nikon 85/2.8D PC)

Woop GJ Mud! Was bricking it when my online tracking was showing the package was stopped by customs and then released with charges, basically I was mentally preparing myself to pay off a triple digit custom duty fee. Phoned Parcelforce to find out the fee and was pleasantly surprised when the lady on the other end said the fees would be £25!

First impression is that it's big, compared to other M-Mount lens but tiny still compared to your SLR lens. Its very well built and solid enough to be used as a weapon :) Cant wait to try it out.

Thanks, I was originally looking for an old Canon 50mm f/0.95 converted to M Mount but they are way too rare and the ones that are being sold cost a fortune :) The Nokton was the best value for money after comparing it to the Canon f/1.2 LTM, Konica M-Hex f/1.2 and the super expensive Leica Summilux and Noctilux.

It vignettes quite abit wide open but the camera compensates for some of it, the rest can be post processed out I suppose but that a small downside of a f/1.1 lens I suppose :)

In my experience £15 of that would be paid to Parcelfarce and £10 to HMRC. Bit of a ****-take really, but I hit it every time I order a Katzeye focusing screen :(

It cost me £580 including custom fee which is pretty good considering the only UK dealer I can find wants £950 + VAT for it.

Will try to churn out some photos, only been doing some basic focusing test with it to make sure it functions OK.

I cant see it being as sharp as my Zeiss Planar 50mm though realistically but I bought it for its low light capability and shallow DOF.
